ROOFING

There are few things more annoying than a leaky roof.  The primary purpose of every roofing system is to maintain the watertight integrity of the building and keep its contents dry.  But your choice of a roof in the Permian Basin area can also play a huge role in managing your energy costs because our area often suffers a severe battering from the elements.  Our buildings need to withstand strong winds, roasting summer sunshine, heavy rain, occasional devastating hailstorms, and even the occasional arctic conditions, as we witnessed last winter.

Consequently, your roofing choice should consider both structural integrity and energy expenses. Obviously, roofs come in all shapes, sizes, and materials. And Midland/Odessa is home to a vast collection of roofing systems of many kinds – cement, metal, slate, tile, shingle, and foam – to name a few.  At Urethane USA, we have a broad knowledge of many of these different systems. As a result, we use our experience to help you make your roofing decision. Our specialist knowledge of spray polyurethane foam (SPF) and insulation products makes us especially sensitive to energy efficiency issues, and we appreciate the impact different roof choices will have on your energy consumption and budget.

This approach doesn’t mean we believe that SPF is always the best fit for any roof. We have experience in creating beautiful shingle roofs as well as metal and cement compositions for commercial applications.  We handle all kinds of roofing materials, such as metal, wood shake, slate, tile, and asphalt shingle.

The solution you choose will depend on many factors, including the current roof material, the roof’s pitch, the potential effects of damage or moisture build-up, and the overall look and feel of the building. It’s always a personal decision based on your needs, circumstances, and budget. We are here to help, advise and offer you a wide range of cost-effective solutions. Perhaps you plan to replace a complete roof, repair specific areas of damage, or even design a roofing system for a completely new building.

If you think your roof needs replacing, or you suspect recent weather damage, feel free to contact us for an expert opinion and a free consultation.  Sometimes you can repair a roof system instead of replacing it.  However, even if the problem seems minor, you should get it checked as soon as possible. If the damage is insignificant, you may be able to wait a year or two before re-roofing, but if your roof’s weather resistance has been compromised, then delaying could increase the potential damage to your home or business.

Spray Foam Roofing

More and more property owners in the Permian Basin with flat or low-pitch roofs choose polyurethane spray foam as an option for their roofing material.  In a severe climate like ours, spray foam is often a great option to save you energy, protect you from extreme weather and look great. But it will depend on many of the factors discussed above.

At Urethane USA, we will let you know if a spray foam roof is right for you.

Our spray foam roofs typically have two components:

Closed-Cell Polyurethane Spray Foam

Closed-cell polyurethane spray is considered a “closed” cell due to its high R-value (commonly around 6.7 per inch).  Most of our SPF roofs use 1-2 inches of higher density material.  Due to this high resistance, the foam coat prevents water from seeping into the insulation and creating moisture build-up. This build-up will promote bacterial and mold growth – something you do not want inside your walls.

Reflective Elastomeric Coating

We finish each SPF roofing job by applying a UV-resistant elastomeric coating system with a granular surface. These systems have outstanding durability and low-temperature flexibility, very little odor, and low VOC emissions. In addition, the coating adds weather-proofing to the roof and enhances its capacity to sustain regular seasonal expansions and contractions.

All Urethane USA’s polyurethane spray foam roofs provide additional waterproofing and come with an industry-leading warranty.

Spray Foam Roofing Benefits

Spray foam roof insulation can be a great way to repair old or damaged roofs or create a clean sealed long-lasting surface. Our spray foam roof systems are seamless, watertight, and virtually maintenance-free. SPF’s seamless properties greatly minimize roof leaks, hence reducing expensive building damage.

In addition to resisting heavy weather, SPF roofs have reflective surfaces that help energy efficiency.  In fact, a key reason SPF roofs are becoming more popular for both homes and businesses is because the system seals and insulates simultaneously. When appropriately applied, SPF creates a leak-free seal over the whole roof and offers better insulation than any other roofing system, with an estimated R-Value of 7 per inch.

Overall, SPF roofs require minimal upkeep to remain under warranty.  Polyurethane spray foam provides strong adhesion and wind uplift resistance. Correctly applied, they can last indefinitely and hold their insulation value for longer than other roofing materials. Using the best products with the best applicators can lower your operating expenses and maximize the return on your investment. In addition, if there ever are issues with your SPF roof, we can often make repairs without needing a total roof replacement.  As a result, our SPF roofing systems have longer life cycles than traditional roofing methods and do not have issues with delamination or alligatoring.

One obvious advantage of choosing spray foam for roof repair or replacement is that you don’t need to rip and replace the existing roof structure. This time-consuming activity can significantly add to your costs, making technologies like TPO more expensive overall than a spray form application.

Although flat roofs are attractive and suitable for many buildings, they can be prone to leak. Over the life of a roof, repairs and maintenance costs accumulate.  Many customers realize that using SPF to repair or replace their flat or low-pitch roof lowers their total cost over time.

Studies have shown there are two significant factors that influence the performance of a roof system:

First, the overall quality of materials used in the system

Secondly, the skill of the contractor who installs it.

Deficiencies in either area can cause premature failure that will necessitate costly repairs.  Although Urethane USA takes great care and pays attention to detail when applying our polyurethane spray foam roofs, the process is relatively quick and straightforward. As a result, there is usually minimal disruption to the facilities. The process is efficient for the following reasons:

Polyurethane spray foam roofs require fewer people to apply.

Unlike conventional systems, there is no need for multiple levels of roofing.

Spray foam can repair roofs of different shapes and types – including asphalt, shingles, built-up roofs, clay tile, concrete, metal, and wood.

All Urethane USA’s polyurethane spray foam roofs provide additional waterproofing and come with an industry-leading warranty.

As an additional service, we also offer TruClaimTM – an insurance adjusting process that maximizes your insurance coverage value and protects you from fraudulent or opportunistic companies seeking to capitalize on storm damage. You can find details here.
